Vacation

I feel weird writing this, because I'm not sure if anyone really reads my blog(LOL!) but I will be out of town on vacation until after next weekend. We are off to Disney World!! If I was a good blogger, I would have scheduled posts to go live while I'm away, but to be completely honest, I haven't had the time! I am very much looking forward to this vacation, especially since my husband rarely gets time away from his work. See you in a week or so!! :)

My Pink Stamper Design Team Project for April

Happy Tuesday!!

This month's theme was favors. Here is the favor that I designed. I thought it would be best suited as a bride's gift to her bridesmaids, or something to that effect. But, when you see what's inside, you'll see that there are more possibilities. You could do cheaper versions for a girl's birthday party!

It's a tiny purse! I told you I love all things miniature(*wink*). I cut this little cutie from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge. I guess it's retired now, but I bought my Gypsy after the cartridge retired and I still got my free cartridges, including this one. It's worth looking for if you don't have it!!

The purse was cut at 3". Tiny folds are not easy, so it's best to have a few tools on hand to help you out. I actually used my Gypsy stylus and my bone folder as guides and folders. Before I folded, though, I embossed the cut with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. Then, I folded where the score lines were present. I used a silver brad on the flap of the purse. I used teensy glue dots to hold this purse together. Whatever you use, make sure it's strong!

For the tag, I used the same cartridge and cut it at 1.5". This stamp is from My Pink Stamper's Music Speaks set(found here). Oh how I love this set, not just because I'm a piano teacher, but because I love how sophisticated some of the fonts are. They are just gorgeous!! Also, I added a very thinly cut piece of black lace and tied a bow on the tag.

Now for a surprise. There were two tiny holes at the top of the purse for a handle. I decided that I would use part of the gift INSIDE the favor to make it.

It's a necklace!! All I did was thread the small end of the chain through the holes. I then clasped the chain inside the purse and put a small piece of tape inside to keep the chain from moving once I got the handle at the perfect length. I placed the rest of the necklace inside the purse and adhered the tag to the front of the bag with a glue dot. That's it!! I do hope you get a chance to see what all of the other designers have come up with for Robyn. I still can't believe I'm amongst so many talented crafters!!!

Mini-Cupcake

For anyone who knows me, it's no secret that I love anything that is miniaturized. I will squeal in excitement at miniature ANYTHING. This next card was actually a fluke, but it's given me an even better idea which I'll go ahead and show in the next few days.

I made this miniature cupcake. I used the Rock Princess cartridge and I cut the cupcake at 2". If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you'll see that I hand-stamped the decorative paper behind it with My Pink Stamper's Sweetest Cupcake stamp set(one of my personal faves!). My favorite part of this card, besides the stamping, is the glitter on the cupcake. It's Martha Stewart glitter that I got on sale at Michael's. Also, I used a REAL cupcake paper for the bottom as if it was really baked. Ok, I know, who am I kidding, it still doesn't look real!! LOL. You can't tell, but I also used Glossy Accents for the cherry. Believe me, this card is much more effective in person!!

Well, I woke up to a nice roaring thunderstorm this morning. I so wish I could have stayed in bed. There's nothing like a dark rainy morning for sleeping!! Since my husband's job requires him to be "on call" at all times, he usually stays home on Fridays, so I just LOVE them. We may be looking at trading in my car today too. I can't even begin to tell you how much that excites me! I've had the same car for years(my first car purchase) and I'm ready for a real, genuine, bonafide, adult car. LOL!! I hope you all have a blessed Friday!!

Short and Sweet

The last few days have been a little rough. LONG story!!! Here's another blank card I made the other day, this time using the Create-A-Critter cartridge. I love Owls. :)

I cut the owl at 4-1/2." I did get a new camera, and I'm not sure if it's my computer, but the colors look off to me on this screen. I'm gonna have to figure that out.  Have a great day!!

A Minimalist Wedding Card

Sometimes, I like to keep things as simple as possible. That never seems to work when it comes to fixing dinner, helping kids with homework, and all around parenting and wifey-ing(as I like to call it), but it always seems to work when it comes to making cards. I had a friend request a simple and modern wedding card, so I designed this:

Once I thought of the concept, It only took me about 30 minutes to make this card. I don't know, you tell me, is that forever?? It seemed like a short amount of time to me! LOL!

Here's the inside, which I decorated more than usual:

It's an A2 sized card(don't fall off your chair!). I cut two pieces of textured gray paper about a 1/4" smaller than the face of the card. For the front of the card, I cut the wedding couple from the Wild Card cartridge and they were cut at 9.47", even though they only end up being 4". I still haven't quite figured out the real dial size button on the Cricut ;). I used my Gypsy to design this card. The hearts were from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge and were cut at 1/2" for the front heart, and 1" for the inside heart. I used the iRock to add a little bling to the dress and suit. The lettering on the inside was from the Storybook Cartridge and were cut at 1".  I glued it all on and there you have it! I did use a pop-up foam for the front heart, but everything else was glued flat. Don't forget the black satin ribbon on the front of the card. I decided not to tie a bow this time to keep it as simple as possible!

Well, we only have about two weeks left until our family trip to Disney World. We are so so so excited, and I just know that I'm going to end up wanting some Disney cartridges for scrapbooking once we get back. :)

My Pinkalicious Blog Hop for April!!

It's already April, and WOW! We've got a great hop for you this evening! If you came here from Kassidy's blog, you're in the right spot. If not, go on over to My Pink Stamper and start hopping! I was so excited to learn that Robyn wanted us to work on Birthday themed projects because there's lots of birthdays coming up in my family.

Here's what I did:

It's a card and gift box set. I am SO excited about this project because I stamped the ribbon with Robyn's awesome Sweetest Cupcake(you can find it at any of these retailers) stamp set!! Here's a close up:

I am SO happy with how this ribbon came out! If you stamp satin ribbon, which this is, make sure you stamp on the non-satin side. The ink will bleed if you don't. It stamped beautifully on the other side! I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and more cartridge and cut the cake box at 8". I cut the purple paper at 1" and glued it around the box, then covered it with the stamped ribbon and tied a bow.

Now the card:

This is an A2 sized card and I cut the cake from the Celebrate with Flourish cartridge at 4.85" on my Gypsy. I used silver foil paper from DCWV for the cake platter. The sentiment "Seek sweetness in everyday life," is from My Pink Stamper's Sweetest Cupcake stamp set that I previously mentioned.

The candles on this cake came out really cute!

I used white and black gel pens for the swirls(like a real candle!) and gold stickles for the flames. Then, as you can see below, I used the SAME stamp set to stamp the inside of the card!

Put it all together and you get this!

I really  hope you enjoyed this project, I know I did! I'm definitey going to stamp ribbon more often too! Your next stop in the hop is.....CARRIE ANN!! Go see her fabulous creation!  Once you're done with the hop, go back to My Pink Stamper for the hop challenge!! Happy hopping!

Here's the blog hop order just in case you're lost:

Inking It Up Crazy's Birthday Week!

Hey there!

I'm so excited to be a part of Kassidy's Guest Design Team at Inking It Up Crazy this week!! This week's theme is Birthdays. My assignment was to make something in which you could wrap or package a gift, so I came up with this:

I had SO much fun making this. I wanted to keep it simple, but I also wanted it to be gender neutral. Don't you think this could work for a guy OR a gal? I really hope you like it!

Recipe:

Plain gift bags(I got mine at the Dollar Tree, 2 for $1)
Decorative paper and cardstock
Celebrate with Flourish cartridge
Glue

The decorative background paper was cut just a little smaller than the face of the bag and adhered with my ATG gun. The outer circle was cut at 8.29", and the inner circle was cut a little smaller at 7.59". I cut the "Happy Birthday" at 4.06" using all of the layers on the cartridge.

You could easily spruce this up with some stickles or ribbon. I just wanted to keep it more on the gender neutral side. There's not enough Cricut projects to please our men, in my humble opinion! ;)

Anyway, please hop on over to Kassidy's blog to see what other amazing designs are out there. Be sure to go back to Monday's post so you can see them ALL!! Thanks for stopping by. :)

It's Raining Sprinkles!

Happy Sunday!!

I love Sundays. I get to listen to my amazing husband preach a wonderful message AND I get afternoon crafting time! Today his sermon was on TMI. I love love love when he puts a current spin on his sermons. He encouraged us to live our lives as if cameras were always on us as God's eyes are. Sins are committed in secret a lot of the time, but the light will be shown on them and they will be revealed! God knows ALL of our "information"!

Anyway, I just wanted to share that amazing message with y'all. This time, I wanted to try something a little different.

I used the Wild Card cartridge and cut the umbrella at 8" Height on my Gypsy. For the sprinkles, I used my Spica glitter pens and used Glossy Accents over the top of them so they'd almost look like real sprinkles! The stamp set is one of My Pink Stamper's new sets called Sweetest Cupcake.

This was a VERY easy card and I love the way it came out. Simple, but cute! I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday!!

Easter Card

Happy Saturday!!

This morning I got right up and made this card:

I've been having a card-making brain freeze. Or cardmaker's block, should I say? I sat down multiple times in my craft room over the past few days, but just couldn't come up with anything!!

This card is A2 sized and I used a DCWV Glitter Mat Stack for the blue background. I found a giant tub full of ribbon from eons ago, so I picked out this rose/bow motif. The Easter basket is cut from the Celebrate with Flourish cartridge at 2.59" on my Gypsy. I also used My Pink Stamper's Happiest Moments stamp set for the sentiment. I used my Spica glitter pens for the eggs and also some Stickles for the "grass."

Easter is soon approaching!! Today the hubs and I are going out to lunch and grocery shopping. We've been getting a little too excited over the latter, because we've been saving a TON of money since I started a two week menu plan. It keeps our house so much more organized!!

Well, I hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend!!
